Micah's first photo shoot

Last week we took Micah to have some pictures taken. His best smiles were off camera, but we still got some cute shots. Enjoy!

A Week of Firsts

This week we took Micah to Chuck E. Cheese for the first time on our annual trip to Chuck E. Cheese with Hovey. Last year, we took Hovey for his birthday since we would be out of town for his party, and he has been asking to go back ever since. Finally, we scheduled a day. Hovey was grinning ear to ear the whole time we were there. We had a lot of fun with him that day. Micah enjoyed a change of scenery but was mainly along for the ride.

Another first this week was Micah's first taste of baby food. We started him on rice cereal hoping to fill his belly up so he will sleep longer at night. The first night he was extremely tired and Mommy didn't get it mixed up quite right, so it was an okay experience. However, you can see in the pics that he was coming back for more. By the fourth night, he was eating it up and waiting for more.
What is this stuff?

I don't know, but I want more!

That is pretty good stuff!

Thursday was Super Thursday for our youth, so Micah got to go to his very first baseball game. We went to see the Jacksonville Suns play. Micah loves being outside, so he enjoyed the experience. It was so hot that he was covered in sweat and couldn't help but fall asleep in Mrs. Margaret's arms.

Meeting the Great Grandparents

Yesterday Micah met my grandparents for the first time. Mom brought Granny and Papaw down to meet our new babies. It was so good to see them. I haven't seen them in quite a while. While living in Virginia, Wes and I saw them a lot, but now that we are in Orange Park and in full time ministry, it is really hard to get to Tennessee/Kentucky to see them. We are so glad that they are down here for a few weeks, and we are looking forward to spending some time with them.

Happy Birthday America & Happy Birthday to Me

We had a busy weekend this weekend getting Wesley ready for the missions trip, celebrating my birthday and celebrating Micah's first 4th of July. As always I managed to stretch my birthday celebration out over several days. With Wesley leaving on Sunday (my real birthday), I declared Friday as my pretend birthday. That day, I treated myself to a mani and pedi. I also made us a special birthday breakfast, and we had dinner at my favorite steak place Outback. On Saturday, Wesley surprised me with cupcakes from Cami Cakes (the best cupcakes we've ever had!), and at midnight Wesley and Micah gave me a surprise gift -- two more crosses for my cross collection. On my actual birthday, Mom and Dad took me to Carrabbas after Wesley left for Alabama. I also got a special phone call from my sweet Hovey. He called me to sing "Happy Birthday to dear Mimi, Happy Birthday to dear Mimi." I just wished I could have recorded it for all of you to hear. He is such a sweet boy, and he melts my heart! It was a great birthday.
On Saturday, the 4th, we went to St. Augustine to watch fireworks. I wasn't quite sure how Micah would respond to the fireworks, but he did great. I was actually beginning to think that he might have hearing problems because he didn't seem to respond to any of the loud noises around us. The actual fireworks were far enough away from where we were sitting to not be loud, but the amateur fireworks around us were quite loud at times. It turns out he was just more interested in eating and napping. After he finished eating, I turned him around to see the fireworks so that he wouldn't sleep all the way through them. I really just wanted to see his reactions to them. He watched just like he was watching TV. During the finale, the amateurs behind us decided to do their own finale, and that caught Micah's attention. He quickly turned his head to see what was going on. What a relief!! My son can hear after all.

Our growing boy

Micah is growing and growing. He seems to get bigger every day. He is now really lifting up his head when he is on his belly. He is grabbing for toys, and he wants to sit up so badly. He is very playful and is now laughing. His laugh is the greatest sound ever. Once I get him laughing, I do everything I can to keep him laughing. He is so great!
This next week, Wesley and 20 of our youth are going on a missions trip to Dothan, Alabama. They will be a part of Wired 2009. We went last year and had such an amazing, life-changing week. Please be praying for Wes and our kids. Our youth group is growing and growing, and there are quite a few kids going on the trip that have never gone a trip like this with us. Please pray for their safety, for good attitudes, and hearts that will be sensitive to all that God wants for them. This next week has the potential to change these kids forever and to change our youth group. Wes and I talk about these kids all the time, and our hearts desire is for these kids to follow hard after God and give their all to Him. Also be praying for me and Micah while we are home without Wes.
