The Many Faces of Micah

I love being a mommy!

I have absolutely fallen in love with my little boy.  I love being his mom!!  He is so sweet, and although it takes a lot out of me and is one of the hardest things I've ever done, I love every second of being Micah's mom.  Today, he smiled for real at me.  It was the sweetest smile I've ever seen.  I can't wait for more!  He also started making other noises today beside just fussing or crying.  Bring on the cooing!  I am going to enjoy every moment, every smile, and every noise he makes.  I don't want to miss a thing.  He has also been "laughing" in his sleep.  He grins really big and almost chuckles.  It is so cute!  It won't be long until this house is filled with his laughter!

Family

Family is such a wonderful thing.  With Micah's arrival, my family has started spending more and more time together, and I absolutely love it.  When I was a kid, we spent a lot of time with our extended family enjoying Sunday dinners, family vacations, and weekends in the Woods at Mamaw and Papaw's house.  My family is hugely important to me because of it.  As I have gotten older, family time has been less and less because of all of our differing schedules.  But since Micah's arrival, my family has been able to spend more and more time together.  We have been able to go to Palatka several times to see family, Sunday dinners at Charlie's, playtime with Hovey, Charlie and Laurie coming over to visit.  It has all been wonderful, and I hope that we continue to make time for each other.  There is nothing like a family that loves each other!

Micah's first month

Our sweet baby boy is now 1 month old. Where did the time go? His first month has been wonderful. We are very thankful for a healthy baby. Micah is a growing and growing. Some days it seems that all we do is feed him. Sometimes I think he is a bottomless pit. Our first month with Micah has been a bit challenging at times. I am learning to live on a lot less sleep than before, and the biggest challenge right now is figuring out what I can and can't eat so that I don't hurt his stomach. I am also trying to figure out how to accomplish things during the day with a little one. Doing laundry, cleaning house, and even writing thank you cards are almost impossible tasks. Micah loves to be held, and he loves to sleep in my arms. I know that I have a lot to do, but I just can't help but hold him. He is my baby boy, and I want to take every advantage of spending time with him and cuddling and holding him because I know that before long he is not going to want to snuggle with Mommy all day long. Time with Hovey has seemed to slip away, and now he is almost three, no longer a baby but a big boy. And although he does give us hugs and kisses, he is now to busy to be held by Mimi. So I want to take advantage of my time with Micah right now because soon my baby will be a big boy. How fast time flies! It seems like yesterday that he was growing in my belly, and now he is 1 month old. Every one says he is a beautiful boy, and I can't help but agree. He gets stronger every day. He holds his head up really well, and his legs are getting stronger and stronger. Our goal for this next month is to get him on a good sleeping and eating schedule so that he will start sleeping through the night. Right now he will go about 4 hours between feedings during the night, but it would be great if he could go a little longer. I'll keep you updated on his progress.

Happy Easter!

Easter day was a very busy day for Micah. Sunday morning was Micah's first day at church. I was concerned about how he would do, but he was great. He slept the whole way through early service, although he got a little fussy during Daddy's Sunday School lesson. After church, we went to Uncle Charlie and Aunt Laurie's for lunch. We had a great afternoon with our family, and we got to watch Hovey hunt Easter eggs. Next year, Micah will be right out there with Hovey. That night, we went back to church. It was a full day, but a great day! Hope you all had a wonderful Easter!

Our First Night Out

Sunday night was our first night out without the baby. While Micah was safe at home with Grandmommy and Grandaddy, Wes and I went to see Chris Tomlin in concert.  Chris Tomlin is probably the only reason I would leave Micah for a long period of time at this point. It was hard to leave Micah, but this was a concert I couldn't miss. The concert was incredible, and to make it even better, Christy Nockels was also onstage for the night. Christy Nockels (1/2 of Watermark) is my most favorite female singer. She sang one of her new songs and backed up Chris during the concert.  I was already incredibly excited to see Chris Tomlin, but when I saw Christy onstage I was even more excited. It was a great night, and Micah didn't even know I was gone. The pictures are from the concert except for the one with me and Chris Tomlin, which is from September when we met him at a youth pastors conference.
